Mission
The mission of the Social Justice Office is to promote and encourage education and action for social justice within the Catholic community of the Archdiocese. The Office also works to bring the message of the Gospel and Church social teaching to public discussions on social issues.

“FROM WORDS TO ACTION” a formation day for Catholics interested in Social Justice

Saturday May 2, 2009, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

St. Michael-Resurrection Parish (10555 – 50A Street, Edmonton)

This one day workshop, organized by the Archdiocese of Edmonton’s Office of Social Justice in partnership with the Greater Edmonton Alliance (GEA), invites Catholics to lean more about the church’s social teaching and how we can live it in our communities.  The workshop will explore the  rich tradition of Catholic social action, the Catholic vision of social justice and organizing for the common good.

Workshop topics will include Fair Trade, 100 Mile Diet, Preserving Agricultural Land, Global-Local Food Solidarity, Inner City Food Security, Food and Worship, Urban Farming and more.
 
Friday May 8 will include a special program for students (grade 9-12) and their teachers

This ecumenical event is being organized in cooperation with the Office of Social Justice, Archdiocese of Edmonton, Development and Peace, St. Joseph’s College, University of Alberta, Catholic religious communities, Edmonton Catholic Schools and several ecumenical partners.

Development and Peace's Annual Assembly and Retreat
Date:  Friday May 22 to Sunday, May 24, 2009

Join us for this weekend of faith formation and business assembly with Development and Peace members from all over the province of Alberta and Mackenzie-Fort Smith.  Rodrigo Loyola, Chair of the Edmonton Archdiocesan Council and National Representative of D & P, invites each and every member to this assembly and retreat.  Ideas will be shared and good times will be had.
